eyLog is now eyworks. Here’s what actually changed.
Last updated
eyLog did not close. Its owner changed the company name to eyworks in 2022, but kept eylog for the learning journal and eyparent for the parent app. This review clears up the names, checks the current prices and flags what you still need to see in a demo.
Disclosure and review scope
DullDocs also makes software for childcare settings, so treat us as a competitor. We checked public prices, company records, app listings and independent reviews. We have not used eyworks ourselves and we have no referral relationship with the company. That is why this article does not give it a star rating.
The short answer
eyLog did not disappear. The company became eyworks; eylog remains the learning-journal product.
The legal company number stayed the same, the founder is still listed as CEO, and the parent and practitioner apps still use the older names. There is no separate “eyLog vs eyworks” choice. eylog is one product in the eyworks range.
What actually happened to eyLog?
eyLog Ltd began in 2012 with online learning journals for early-years settings. As the company added finance, enquiries, recruitment and community tools, its original name described one product rather than the growing suite. The company announced the eyworks rebrand on 5 October 2022.
The Companies House record is straightforward. Company number 07939645 was incorporated in February 2012 as EYLOG LTD, then changed its legal name to EYWORKS LIMITED on 21 September 2022. It remains active at the same Milton Keynes address. That points to a rename, not a merger or acquisition. You can check the company record yourself.

Why the old name never quite went away
- eylog is still a product. It is the observations and daily-records module inside eyworks.
- The apps retain the old family of names. Parents use eyparent; practitioners use eylog. Both listings name EYWORKS LIMITED as the developer.
- The review footprint is split and thin. Current aggregator listings sit alongside older references to eyLog, while the current Capterra profile has only two reviews.
The old eylog.co.uk address now redirects permanently to eyworks.co.uk. It is one company and one product family, not two competing systems.
What eyworks is now: the six modules
eyworks sells six products separately or in combination. A nursery can buy the finance software without the learning journal, or the journal without replacing its other management systems.
eymanage
01Bookings, invoicing, funding, payments, occupancy and staff scheduling
eylog
02Observations, assessment, daily records, registers and reports
eypeople
03HR, contracts, absence, training, documents and payroll reporting
eyrecruit
04Vacancies, applications, interviews, talent pools and recruitment analytics
eyenquiries
05Enquiry pipeline, visits, registration forms, deposits and analytics
eyengage
06A community newsfeed with posts, polls, events and audience controls
eyworks’ own company timeline shows how that suite accumulated: eymanage arrived in 2015, eyenquiries became standalone and eyrecruit launched in 2019, eyengage followed in 2020, and the company later added eypeople.
How much eyworks costs in 2026
There is no single starting price for the whole suite. eymanage and eylog are priced by the number of children on roll. eyrecruit is priced by active vacancies. The other three modules have flat monthly prices.
| Children on roll | eymanage | eylog | Both |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | £22/mo | £19/mo | £41/mo |
| 30 | £35/mo | £30/mo | £65/mo |
| 60 | £48/mo | £41/mo | £89/mo |
| 120 | £61/mo | £52/mo | £113/mo |
| 200 | £74/mo | £63/mo | £137/mo |
Monthly equivalents when billed annually, per branch, excluding VAT. Annual billing is presented as one month free. Figures returned by the live eyworks pricing calculator, checked .
| Module | How it scales | Annual-billing rate |
|---|---|---|
| eypeople | Flat module price | £11/mo |
| eyenquiries | Flat module price | £11/mo |
| eyengage | Flat module price | £11/mo |
| eyrecruit | Active job bundles | 1 job: £11 · 2 jobs: £21 · 5 jobs: £45 |
Worked example
A 60-child setting taking all six modules with two active recruitment jobs comes to £143/month.
That is £1716 billed annually, plus VAT. A 60-child setting taking only eymanage and eylog is £89/month.
For more than 200 children, the pricing FAQ lists top-ups for eymanage and eylog in 50-child increments at £12 per month or £132 per year, per product. The site also states there are no setup fees, onboarding and training are included, the initial licence is 12 months, cancellation after that requires three months’ notice, and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee applies at the start. The published terms confirm the 12-month minimum and three-month notice mechanics; ask for the exact order form before signing.
What looks good on paper
You can buy only the modules you need
The calculator lets you price the exact combination you want. That suits a nursery that needs finance software but already has a learning journal, or the other way around.
The parent app has plenty of ratings
Google Play showed 4.4/5 from about 3,860 reviews and 100,000+ downloads. The UK App Store showed 4.3/5 from about 1,300 ratings. That is enough volume to take the scores seriously. Still, some reviewers report problems with notifications and navigation, so test both during a trial.
The company has been around since 2012
The eyworks name is fairly new, but the business and its learning journal are not. The same company has operated since 2012, and the app is still being updated.
The learning journal is not an add-on
eylog was the original product. Nurseries that care most about observations, daily diaries and parent sharing should include it on the demo shortlist, then compare the current workflow with Tapestry and any other journal they already use.
What we still cannot verify
There are almost no independent staff reviews
The current Capterra profile is rated 4.5/5, but that number comes from only two reviews. One older review asked for a dedicated staff app; eyworks replied that eyemployee had since launched. That is worth noting, but two reviews tell us very little about day-to-day use.
Ask to see the modules working together
Public information does not show how much work passes cleanly between the six modules. In a demo, ask to see one child move from enquiry to registration, invoicing, daily records and parent communication. Do not settle for separate tours of each screen.
The names will confuse some parents
A nursery “using eyworks” may ask parents to download eyparent and practitioners to open eylog. The practitioner app’s own App Store history even describes an eyworks rebranding update while retaining the eylog name. Staff should expect to explain which app each person needs.
Parent ratings do not cover the back office
The parent app ratings do not tell you whether invoicing, funding, occupancy, exports, permissions or multi-site reporting work well. Test those jobs with your own figures and examples.
What to ask in an eyworks demo
Bring real examples from your nursery. These questions are more useful than a standard feature tour:
- 01
Show one child moving from enquiry to enrolment, invoice, daily record and parent update. Where is data re-entered?
- 02
How many accounts, sign-ins and permission models do a manager and practitioner need across our chosen modules?
- 03
Reproduce our real funding pattern and one correction. What appears in the audit trail and reports?
- 04
Let us use the current practitioner and parent apps. Show notification controls and failed-notification handling.
- 05
Export our core child, parent, financial and journal data. Which formats are included and which require support?
- 06
Give us two references from settings with our child count, module mix and number of branches.
eyLog vs eyworks: the one-paragraph answer
If someone recommended “eyLog”, they meant the learning-journal product now sold by eyworks. The legal company is the same and the apps still use the old names. You do not need to compare eyLog with eyworks. You need to decide whether the eyworks modules suit your nursery better than one all-in-one system.
Alternatives to consider
Put Famly or Ovivio on the shortlist if a visibly unified all-in-one experience is the priority. Compare Tapestry if the learning journal is the centre of the decision. Consider Parenta Abacusor Cheqdin when price structure or a narrower operational brief matters more. Our nursery software comparison puts the main options side by side. Compare current quotes using the same child count, modules, support, migration and contract term. Headline starting prices rarely cover the same package.
Bottom line
eyworks is worth a demo if you want to choose modules separately or if the learning journal is the main reason you are buying. The prices are public, the company has operated since 2012, and the parent app has thousands of ratings.
What is missing is solid independent evidence about the staff software. A 4.5 score from two Capterra reviews is not enough. Before signing, ask eyworks to show how your chosen modules share data, how exports work, and how staff complete the jobs they do every day.

Frequently asked questions
Is eyLog still available?
Yes. eylog is the learning-journal product inside the eyworks suite. The company changed its legal name in September 2022 and announced the eyworks brand in October 2022, but the eylog product and app names remain in use.
Did eyLog get bought or merge with another company?
The public record supports a rename, not a merger. Companies House shows the same company number, 07939645, moving from EYLOG LTD to EYWORKS LIMITED.
How much does eyworks cost?
Pricing is modular and depends on child numbers or active vacancies. On annual billing, the live calculator showed eymanage at £22–£74 per month and eylog at £19–£63 per month across the published 20–200 child tiers. eypeople, eyenquiries and eyengage were £11 each per month. Prices exclude VAT.
Do the apps still say eyLog?
Yes. The parent app is still called eyparent and the practitioner app is still called eylog. Both are published by EYWORKS LIMITED.
Is the eyparent app well reviewed?
The ratings are solid. Google Play showed 4.4 out of 5 from about 3,860 reviews and the UK App Store showed 4.3 from about 1,300 ratings when checked in August 2026. Some reviewers still report notification and navigation problems, so test those parts during a trial.
